Expecting a child is an exciting time, and it helps when you have quality nurses and professionals by your side along the way.
That is exactly what Ashley Willis, RN, BSN, OCN and husband Holt experienced in the birth of their baby boy, Mason on June 27 at The Garland Birthing Center of VCU Health Community Memorial Healthcenter in South Hill.
“The whole experience from beginning to end has been great,” Ashley said. “Everyone has been very helpful giving us information and teaching us. The nurses were wonderful, especially being new parents and not knowing what to expect.”
Ashley said they talked her and Holt through everything and even kept their families up to date in the waiting room regularly.
“It was just nice being close to home. The birthing center being located in South Hill was definitely worth it,” Ashley said.
Holt also agreed with how helpful the staff and the center had been, adding “Whatever I needed, the nurses got for us.”
CMH Women’s Health Services provided the prenatal care, and Dr. Eric Reinertson, MD was on hand for the delivery.
“Everyone at Women’s Health Services were great. The nurses and front staff were all along working with me and my schedule as a nurse working here,” Ashley said.
Ashely has worked for the hospital five years, spending one year in acute care followed by four years in oncology. She was recently promoted to clinical coordinator.
The family lives in Ridgeway, North Carolina.
